Deployment Records

A Deployment Record is a report on a single deployment of a single ship — the 1970 Western Pacific cruise of a carrier, not the carrier's whole career. It is built from the records that deployment produced: the deck logs the ship's watch officers wrote, the command history the ship filed, and the published federal record around them. $29, delivered as a PDF.

The substance of the product is extraction. Hekkova transcribes the deployment's deck-log pages into structured entries, reviews them for accuracy, and assembles the report from that reviewed data. Each report is built once, checked by a person, and then sold as the same fixed document — it is not generated fresh per order.

What a Deployment Record contains

• The deployment chronology: line periods, operations, port calls, and significant events across the deployment, drawn from the extracted deck-log entries and the ship's command history.
• Command-tier personnel changes during the deployment — assumptions and reliefs of command, with names.
• Casualties, at the fidelity the records support: a per-individual listing where the deployment's records have been fully extracted and reviewed, or a source-verified aggregate figure where they have not. The report states which it is.
• A source citation and a verification-status disclosure on every rendered fact.
• Sources and methodology, with National Archives attribution.

Where the record comes from

Deployment Records are drawn from primary federal records: the deployment's deck logs held by the National Archives, the ship's command history (Command Operations Report) filed with the Naval History and Heritage Command, the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, and comparable published federal sources. Claims are cited to their sources, and where sources disagree, the record reports the conflict rather than choosing silently.

Personnel names appear in a sold report only under a strict standard: a name is included when it carries a citation to the ship's entry in a published federal source, verified by a person at assembly — otherwise the event is described and the name is withheld. A record of what the ship did never depends on surfacing a name.

Coverage

A Deployment Record is offered only for deployments whose records have been extracted and reviewed. If a deployment's extraction is not complete, no report is sold for it — there are no partial reports sold as complete.
